I wrote down these words late March 2020 during this Covid-19 epidemic, been home isolated for weeks and out of work, like all the rest of us.
Scribbled these observations on paper in my living room, while flipping through the various news outlets, trying to keep stable… in my PJ’s and bath robe, now basically the 24hour a day lockdown uniform (OK, to be fair, was like that most of the time anyway, before…) It all came together very spontaneously and quickly. Few days later a melody on the guitar emerged.
So many have come to the forefront flooding social media with home spun videos and candid snapshots of songs in the comforts of their homes they’ve written or interpreted, sharing to create a cultural calm and lift us through this kind of global madness. It’s working! Music always prevails!

I desperately miss everything that has to do with playing live now; the simple preparations, the dummy checks, the sound checks, and mostly my musicians and the public. All of this suddenly stripped away like some kind of Orwellian nightmare!
So I wanted to join in with that universal contribution in the good will of cultural giving and this was a way to collaborate/perform with my band (sort of) and some sweet, good friends who I admire and asked to lend their voices…
It’s rough, it’s basically a sketch of a song but that’s fine… Everything’s a bit rough right now.
Turning suffering into art is the definition of art… and if nothing else; it’s certainly a damn good distraction!

This goes out to all the people throughout the world that are struggling with this either by illness or hardships endured from all the isolation restrictions, all the loved ones who have lost somebody way too soon, all the talented elders who simply had much more to live and give but was suddenly stolen from them by Covid-19. Just heart wrenching…
Something will come of this that will make our world a better place for us all!

And thank you! thank you! thank you! To all the good folks who are helping to support by buying my CDs and merchandise as well as my art directly through me, when all the gigs were stripped away. That’s a huge help right now!

Runnin’ out of provisions and the rent’s overdue
I’m on the social network, can’t get close to you
I’m feeling isolated I’m feeling kind of lost
I got to get out but I don’t know the cost
Scrub your hands mask your face
Try to disinfect the whole human race
Don’t stand too close don’t push me off
my mama always said cover up your mouth when you cough
Be in the moment
Be in the now
Be the solution together we must vow
Be the light, shine so bright
From shore to shore
Be the change that nobody can ignore…
